What model of pads

What brand of Hawks are you using?

Just racing or daily driving as well?

I am looking for new pads and am debating on the Hawks versus EBC. I can't decide which brand would be best for autocross/light track days and daily driving.

How do you like those Hawk pads for everyday driving? Do you find they don't work so well on cold stops? I ran the HPS on my last car, a 300ZX and found them to be a little less than responsive on cold stops, or in the wet. It was sort of like you had to wait till heat built up & then they bit hard.

I've yet to experience that. I've been running these pads on and off the track for 7000 miles.

HPS on order

I went with the Hawk HPS and not the HPS +. I'll post some feedback once I run some laps at our next auto-X and break them in on the street.

Yeah, the HPS plus are more for track only and you will find the issues described above with those.

Post Brake Pads

Just to throw my 2 cents in....I'm using the Satisfied Pro Ceramics (daily driving); they will produce almost no dust at all. However, I doubt that they would handle some auto-x. They are fairly inexpensive so it would a nice pair to have on and save the good stuff like the hawks/ebc's/gransports for auto-x. I may be way off, but the softer pads (hawk, brembo, etc.) are all going to give you better stopping power but a lot more brake dust vs. true ceramic based pads which I have noticed very little or no dusting but it does feel like they need to warm up to truly have a good grip.

http://www.carbotecheng.com (I believe they use Hawk's materials)

Hope this helps.

That's good to hear. Although I wonder whether climate has something to do with it. Anyway, maybe I'll give them another shot as my next set of pads when the Brembos wear out, or as auto-x pads. They really do have better dusting characteristics.

Keep in mind the Hawk HP+ will wear down your rotors much faster than the HPS will. It's more of an auto-x/track day pad.
