OEM seats and Helmet issues...

i went to an autox today and used my new helmet (pyrotect full face) for the first time and damn i can't move my neck or head at all! i'm having some clearance issues the only way i managed to get around this is by tilting the seat backwards but its still very clastophobic.... anyone have this problem? yes i have my seat settings to the lowest possible setting.... i'm thinking about taking out the seat for a racing seat possibly lose 100lbs and hopefully it can be lower than the stock setup seats

If you are taller than about 5"9" you cannot wear a helmet and assume the typical driving position in the car, even at the lowest seat setting, without whomping the roof liner with your noggin. I replaced my seat with a Sparco Milano and that solved it, but it rides so low that frankly, if you are under 5'10", that will not work for your daily driving either! At 6'0" it is about perfect for me. The leather seat is very slippery as well, and a seat that cradles you is much better for autoX and track fun.

Maybe just as relevant, what helmet is everyone using for Autocross/track events, given the tight fit, and given the SCCA advisory on full face helmets and airbags?

You can pick up an extra 1/2" or so by adjusting the stop on the jack screw under the seat. Try a search on the subject; it was covered extensively in a thread last fall (with pictures). It was an easy 2 minute adjustment and it helped a bit.
