First time Tracking
Remember that you're not there to race, you're there to learn. Get a feel for the car, learn to feel and manipulate the weight transfer. If there's a beginners class that day, as there often is, you should take it.

Consider getting a SA-rated helmet that will actually fit you! If it's a road race facility consider bleeding your brakes and refilling with a DOT 5 rated fluid. Brakes are the limiting factor on a road circuit, so I'd also recommend some upgraded brake pads as well. Check condition of tires and set tire pressure before you go.
If you really push it, then check the torque on your lugnuts when you're in the paddock. Shoes and gloves help but aren't necessary. Check tire pressure, usually a few psi over stock on most tires - depends. Just listen to your instructor and learn the line.
I went to the Thunderhill driving school for my first time recently. It was a blast. I highly recommend it. Speedventures is another group that I have heard good things about. I can't wait to get out to the track again. Auto-x is a great place to learn car control. I believe that it gave me a great advantage over other first time drivers. I know that I would not have been able to pick up the line and control the car as well without having auto-x experience. You might want to bring snacks, drinks, a chair, hat, sun screen and money to buy more gas at the track. I went through over a tank of gas in my IS during 5-20 minute sessions.
