DIY Escutcheon Install Please Sticky!!!

Ok, for all of those who don't want to corouse throughout the site trying to find out how to instill your Escutcheon (key cover) on your G. Here's a DIY. I purchased my stuff from Chad @ Infiniti Specialist. Great Guy!

Ok for one here's the products I recommend using to remove the factory key hole cover. Now, I know your laughing at the glove thinking Im not wanting to get my hands dirty, but thats not it. Put the glove over the screwdriver, I guess its a condom... to prevent things from getting scratched even up higher on the door itself.

Step 2: Lock the car

Step 3: Now in my case, I was able to just pull the factory Escutcheon off without having to pry with a screwdriver. Make sure to be extra careful, even though you have your screwdriver condom you can still dent you door if you tap it. Pull the door handle out and very carefully manuever a thin tipped flat head into the prong/clip nearest the door handle.

This is the peice I am talking about.

Step 4: your door should now look like this.

Step 5: Now, my Escutcheon had this piece attached to it.

Remove it by taking this clip and prying it with this

You should now have a free Escutcheon piece. At this point you need to take these two small tabs

Pry them upward a little, becareful not to damage the cover. If you dont pry them up they will not lock into place over the key attachment. Once you have done so, you can the first attach the 2 small clips into the rear part of the key attachment and then put the larger prong into place making a clicking sound.

You'll end up with this.... the final product.

So CLEAN, yet such a pain in the a*s for such a small peice.

Hopefully, this DIY is detailed enough for you non-mechanically inclined.

Of course when I get ready to install this, the images would be hijacked by advertising. Ugh.
