Sedan Signal Mirror Instructions

markrief (enthusiast )

I have posted my instructions with pictures at http://home1.gte.net/res0bsc9/g35/signalmirrors.html

If you try this project, these will be a big help to go with the Japanese instructions.

Re: Sedan Signal Mirror Instructions

Is anyone concerned about this possibly voiding the warranty? I only raise this question because when I contacted my dealer about installing the trunk opener and additonal power outlet myself (using the kit from infinithelp.com), they told me it would void the warranty.

Re: Sedan Signal Mirror Instructions

You folks are all very welcome - I appreciate the comments. It's good to know ohters will not have to repeat the trial and error I did. It took me a day and half, but I could do it again in 3 hours. Good luck to those of you doing the install!

Yeah, thanks Mark. The weather hasn't been good here in Toronto till now, I am gonna try to install it next weekend with a friend following your instructions if I can't find anyone here to do the job for me before then. So please keep the link to your instructions alive for a while. Thanks!!!

Re: Sedan Signal Mirror Instructions

Well, I finally did it!! I actually anticipated the job to last a good part of the day, but with Mark's detailed instruction, a friend and I got it done in less then 4.5 hours. So thanks again Mark for saving people like me a tons of trouble and time.

There isn't much to add to Mark's instructions, except for fellow Canadian or people who ordered G that has heated mirror, please be VERY careful not to break the mirror glass as I have learnt the hard way: I broke the driver side mirror glass after succefully did the passenger side one, 'cause I was just stupid, thinking the second one is easier and didn't heat the frame long enough. I believe Mark doesn't have the heated mirror, as I don't see 2 lose wires dangling inside the frame after he removed the mirror glass in his pictures. That's probably the reason why his replacement costs only US$19, and mine is gonna be arround CAN$80.25

One other minor detail is that I found that it was BIAATCH to reach that half of the SMJ connector on the passenger side body from under the dash. There was just not enough room with this one white square blocking the way and it took us about 15 mins just to pull it out, insert wires and put it back in. We were so frustrated that we even considered removing the glove box just to clear the way. The Driver side was actually a lot easier even with all the pedals. Again, I don't know if Mark's car has that same white square blocking the way like mine does at the passenger side.

All in all, I love the final result and enjoyed the experience, even though I made a mistake that will cost me almost CAN$100....
