How Long Should Brakes Last?

I purchased a 2004 coupe in Feb. It had 17,500 miles on it. I took it in today for some work and while I was there asked for the vehicle history on it. It said that when it was sold to them in Dec 2005 at 17,000 miles, they replaced the front brakes and rotors. The detail said "FRONT PADS 3MM ROTRS 22.20MM ANSD"

I know there is an special 36k warranty on brakes on this year but what can I expect with these new brakes? I am not a hard driver so I would hope this next set would last longer than 17k miles.

I know there is a problem with premature wear with the brakes but is it with just the original sets or something I need to live with?

If it's something I need to anticipate this often, how much should I budget for?

Thx!

Welcome, J., and congrats on the coupe.
Brake wear depends on the driver. My coupe pads had about 15k miles on them and were only half shot.
Bare in mind too that the faster the driver the more the VDC will intervene, so there's another source of wear on the brakes.

With moderate driving, you should see decent service from a set of pads and rotors.

I recently sold my '97 Maxima that I bought new with 51k miles still having all original brakes and exhaust system.
Wear is dependent upon the driver.

mine were replaced somewhere between 17K-19L or so... don’t really remember and too lazy to look. I figure I'll have em done once more under the "special brake warranty" before going after market. You probably have one more in yours as well (of course depending on your driving habits it could be 2).
