Prevent Rear Wheel Hop

I am noticing under hard acceleration over small bumps (like 0.25 - 0.5" crack across the road, nothing major) the rear wheel and rear of the car really jump around. More than the 330i and I drove for a short period of time, and the Merc E300 that I still drive (wife's car). What suspension modifications can be made to minimize this? Driving the sedan 6mt (has standard sport susp.).

Re: Prevent Rear Wheel Hop

I experience the same problem with my coupe I even felt it bottom out at one point. I installed a set of Tein springs today and on my test drive both surface street and freeway the problem totally disappeared. It was night and day from the stock set up I didn't think it would make a big difference but it did. Got my set for around $190.00 I beleive you can get it cheaper for about $160.00 for the same set. I didn't do my homework to well and just bought one the first chance I got. Anyways, that's what I did with my coupe long term effect remains to be seen, but for immediate results you will not be dissapointed. Front will be dropped 1.2" and the rear .9" not very dramatic drop even for the wife. Good luck should you get a set.

Tire presssure first, shock valving second , springs last.

Re: Prevent Rear Wheel Hop

As far as tire pressure, I keep around 34psi, 4 more than recommended to provide less tire flex in the corners. I can see how this could cause this 'hopping' over small bumps, but I don't want to go lower than recommended either.

How would you change the shocks and shock valving from standard (actual sport susp stock on sedan)
