Alignment issues on '04 Coupe w/ 19's HELP!
I have an '04 Coupe with 19 inch Volks and 350z springs. Been in to get an alignment twice and the car still has a slight drift to the right, that is VERY irritating.
The Camber is a little out of spec (-1.6 left and -1.4 right vs. a -1.3 to .3 spec). The alignment guy says that Camber out of spec wouldnt cause the car to drift one direction or the other. Also the alignment specs on the sheet are for an '04 with 18's. Questions: 1. Should the alignment have been done with 19's on the spec sheet? Or doesn't that matter? 2. The tires are brand new. The car also drifted on the previous tires, same kind. So I'm sure it's not the tires. 3. The ride height on both sides of the front is exactly equal, so I can't imagine it's the springs. CAN ANYONE HELP?!?!? PLEASE! |

You should not have more camber on the left then the right.
Just about all roads have a crown and having more camber on the left is definitely causing it to drift right. What does the caster look like? |
Caster seems to be right on. 8.1 on both the left and the right. Caster has a spec range of between 7.3 and 8.8.
As for the Camber, before the alignment the Camber was -1.5 (left) and -1.4 (right), and the car was drifting slightly before. Would 1 degree really make that much difference? If the crown of the road issue has legs I can understand that. That was the cause offered up by the alignment shop the 1st time I had it in about a year ago. Thank you both for the replies. |
Are your tires Pilot A/S? I remember reading about some problems with these tires drifting to the right no matter how they got switched around.
I think there was also a TSB for some suspension problem with 03's drifting to the right but its probably not related. |
spud- i use the Pilot A/S's in the winter time on dry days.
i get no tracking issues. |

Tires are Falkens. They're my second set. Both sets have done the same thing.
It seems like this only occurred after installing the Z springs. I'm wondering if it might not be the springs, but the lowering caused the TSB issue regarding the compression rod to become apparent? |
