Installed new Brake Pads - HAVE TUTORIAL!

Since everyone has been such great help when I installed my brake pads (EBC Greenstuff) I also made a tutorial while installing for anyone looking to save a few hundred bucks.

It can be found here www.avinomc.com/brakepads.zip

Real in depth, has audio and visual. Unzip the file and open "brakepads.swf" with Internet Explorer and enjoy.

Feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks - Joey Avino

Nicely done...informative and humorous at the same time.

One thing, who was that sickly-looking dude at the end? He's perhaps smoked too much crack. LOL

Again, nice job.

Re: Installed new Brake Pads - HAVE TUTORIAL!

It is probably the same thing or similar, when I see my friend that has the 5AT I will take one of this wheels off and look at it. It could be similar but for that one you may need to undo one of the bolts on the calipers and pivit the unit up. My next task is the suspension and I will make a tutorial for that one too! wow, great job dude.
Quick question... after removing the pins, you has said something like "at this point don't touch the brakes at all."

But it looked like the next step was to wiggle out the pads. So is there another step in there that i missed?? Or do you actually wiggle both the pads out right after you remove the pins?

thangbu: there is a good write up with pictures on freshalloy for doing the 5AT.

Re: Installed new Brake Pads - HAVE TUTORIAL!

Super Job, bro on the tutorial.
I know the thinking that it's better to be safe than sorry, but the lug nuts should be torqued to about 80-90 lbs. If you're out away from home and have to change a wheel, then by all means put your weight into tightening the nuts. For sure you don't want them to come off, but when you get home, retorque them to the right spec. It saves distorting the disc, and helps keep it running true and shake free.
Thanks from all for taking the time. Much appreciated bro.
Would be nice to have a copy/link in our DIY forum too.

Re: Installed new Brake Pads - HAVE TUTORIAL!

When I meant dont touch the brakes.. I mean don't jump into your car and pump the brakes. The pistols will come out all the way and ruin them and probably [censored] up your mass too.

Re: Installed new Brake Pads - HAVE TUTORIAL!

thanks for the tutorial Malx! that was great.

so what's the feedback on the greenstuff pads? Do you like them and do you still have squeeling? Or did the no squeak pretty much take care of that?

Good stuff! Since you've done all the research for all us lazy folks... why did you go with the EBC Greenstuff pads? A couple of quick questions... can you explain everything in that really blurry picture again? You lost me at that step. Also, you don't need to bleed the brakes?

Re: Installed new Brake Pads - HAVE TUTORIAL!

You don't need to bleed brakes if your just replacing pads. If you disconnected the caliper, thats another issue. So far on my EBC's they're great, they do squeal during very slow stops, but anything is better than that damn brake dust.

Re: Installed new Brake Pads - HAVE TUTORIAL!

ok, someone already answered the question about bleeding the brakes. not necessary if not recutting rotors.

based on your tutorial (only watched once, didn't hear well, too much going on at home) which end was front of car?
