Using different springs for front and rear

Wanted to know what type of issues one should expect or see when mixing different spring sets for front and rear. For example, I have Z H Techs for my car. If I were to keep this setup for the front and go with H&R sport springs for my rear, while keeping the H Techs up front, how will that affect my car?

Thanks.

different spring rates....AFAIK both front and rear rates are diff. to begin with, but i would assume they were researched and developed specifically by the manufacturer....also the drop may be diff.....i honestly think it is best to stay with same brand/model all around, but then again i do not know anyone who actually experimented with this.

That would not be a good idea as the H&R are progressive while the htechs are linear. A better swap would be Z-stechs in the rear which are still linear and comparable springrates to the stock 05-06 sport suspension

I have been considering swapping my rear Z H-Techs for the Z S-Techs.

Yes, this can be done....few here on the forum have already mixed and matched. When doing so, think about your desired drop, spring rates, and whether the springs are linear or progressive.

can someone elaborate on why using progressives in the rear and linears up front is bad, considering there are some brands that do this? i guess there are mixed opinions about this topic as expected. i guess i will have to test it out. oh, by the way, i have an 03 6mt and am planning to put Z H Techs in front and H&R sports in the rear, if that matters at all.

thanks!

There are brands that have progressive fronts with linear rears that I know of, but none that have the opposite setup. The reason this would be bad is the rear will roll excessively compared to the front entering a turn, which can cause the car to handle unpredictably as the different rear springrates kick in. This is less of an issue with progressive fronts because as you enter a turn, you slow down and shift weight to the front of the car which compresses the springs past the lower springrate portions into the stiffer portions and making the steering much more predictable

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll just put H&Rs all around.
