New rotors and pads need a little time to wear. In the beginning, they'll feel really soft.

well I have whatever warranty comes with the car when you buy it new

and I bought the wheel/tire/door ding/windsheild protection plan also but I know that has nothing to do with the brakes or rotors

IIRC only the '03-'04 non-brembo brakes are covered under warranty for the 3yr/36k miles. Within that coverage the warranty will replace the rotors and pads if they reach the wear limit for free.

To the OP, since you now have brand new rotors and pads you have to let them break in for a few hundred miles. A faster way to do the break in process is to do what is called "bedding-in" your brakes.

Here's a good read on what that's all about.

Thanks dklau33, u hits the nail on the head! I have a 04 coupe with 19000 miles and the rotors has lip on it. Per srvc advisor, its normal. I told him to let the mechanic take a look at it anyways.
