BBk Questions

Lately I have been thinking of doing a brake upgrade on my 04 6MT sedan. I have a couple of questions for the experts. Keep in mind that I am not doing track days/auto crossing are anything of that nature. The only thing that I do is a couple of visits to the Tail of the Dragon a year (Zdayz). I beat my car up worse there in a couple of days then I do all year long. Any way I was thinking of going with the Racing Brake OE caliber 13” kit. This is my plan.

1.Purchase front 13” kit now cross drilled/slotted rotors and hawk pads
2.Leave the stock rear rotors and pads alone (I do not need pads or rotors at all)
3.In a couple of months install new stock size rear cross drilled/slotted rotors and new hawk pads
4.This winter install the 4 piston upgrade kit for the front and install SS lines all the way around
5.Eventually install rear 2 piston BBK kit (next summer?)

Does this make since to you guys? I just do not have the funds to perform a complete BBK kit at this time. Should I just save and wait to do it all at once? By the way what is our % of stopping front vs. back 70/30?

Thanks

Caliper relocation kits on only the front aren't a good idea because they mess up the front rear braking bias and could likely make your braking performace worse. On top of that, you aren't really addressing the major issue with the stock system which is the calipers themselves which don't dissapate heat very well. Increasing the rotor size isn't going to make much of a difference. Save that money and invest in some good pads for the F/R, and get SS brake lines and some good brake fluid instead. A better upgrade would be finding some 05+ calipers and rotors which are 2piston with larger rotors, but with piston sizing adjusted for even braking bias with the rear brakes.
