Wheel bearing: My fault, or warranty?

hey guys, just looking for some quick advice.

i was investigating a rattle from the back end of my car and when i was taking the passenger side rear wheel off i noticed an awful lot of play in it. moving it by hand it goes in/out maybe half an inch or so.

now i am lowered on tein flex, and have 10.5" volk wheels in the back, so i assume the dealer is going to say its my fault the bearing is bad. however, if this is the actual cause of the noise, it has been happening since the day i got the suspension installed (at the dealer). so maybe it has been bad for that long?
would a loose axle nut cause the same symptom?

do i have a foot to stand on, or just suck it up and pay for it out of pocket?

also, i'm not driving it right now, but if i needed to, do you think i could/should?

thanks

Its totally possible that your low offset wheels caused the bearings to fail, but ask the dealership first. Try and get someone to trade you stock wheels for a few days while you bring it in

So why the face?

I say no, it's under warranty. Yes, offsets other than stock put more wear and tear on suspension parts so put your stock wheels back on. If the dealer installed your springs and said nothing about your warranty being void...

if the dealer installed your suspension they should have notified you if your warranty was void. just tell then no one informed you of this. and they should warranty their work, and it was their work that could have caused the failure.

Well if the wheel was the cause then why didn't the other side fail as well?

the smiley face was because i didn't think anyone cared. 1 response to help me get out of paying for it, didn't work.

the squeak/rattle was over small bumps, holes, or cracks in the road. as it turns out it was unrelated to the bearing, which is terrible news because it is driving me nuts. i'm thinking rear parcel shelf, spare tire area, or just normal aftermarket suspension noise.

the replacement bearing and labour only cost about $200 CDN, so no big deal i guess. i probably could have made a stink about and got it covered, but i think in my mind i felt like it was probably my fault, and didn't push it.
