So much for Brembo OEM pads

I was an avid supporter for Brembo OEM parts (as per my previous postings). I need to replace all rotors and all pads (front and rear) on my 04 Coupe (6 speed) with Brembo. In doing some research I understood that Brembo doesn't sell pads to the public but rather only to the dealerships and one should expect to pay a hefty premium for that.

So, here's my proposed setting:
- slotted Brembo rotors from IRP (www.importrp.com): front $325/pair, rear $320/pair.
- Hawk HPS pads from the same place: front $93.50/pair, rear $66.95/pair.

Thanks to some of you, I undertand that IRP (Import Replacement Parts) is a good place to order parts. Any other opinions on IRP (past experiences, etc) given the price for the parts above (I was also looking at Tirerack but the parts are a bit more expensive there) ?

About Hawk HPS:
- are these a good replacement for the Brembo OEM pads: performant enough (I don't do track but I do spirited driving now and then), good wear (my Brembo OEM pads kept me till 60k miles), easy on the rotors (I don't care AT ALL about the dusting issue, but rather on how performant they are), etc ?

I'll be ordering the parts today so any timely responses/comments/recommendations will be greatly appreciated (this is a significant buy so I'm relying on your help to make the right choice).

Thanks !

Why not upgrade a little for about the same price?

You can get replacement rotors and pads from www.racingbrake.com for about the same price.

http://www.racingbrake.com/G35_Bremb...1-211-1366.htm
http://www.racingbrake.com/G35_Bremb...8-111-1368.htm

The fronts are slotted with curved internal vanes for better cooling, the rears are slotted and vented.

Pads:

http://www.racingbrake.com/G35_Bremb...61-11-2837.htm

I've got a personal discount with RacingBrake, PM me if you're interested.

Thanks for the information ! Both, the pads and the rotors are cheaper from IRP. The pads are the same (Hawk HPS) and for the rotors I prefer to stick with Brembos rather than the Racing Brake brand.

What do you think of Hawk HPS and Brembo rotors combination ?

What do you have to replace the rotors? Why not just resurface them and replace them during next time you change the pads?

how many miles you have on your car?

I have 60k miles and never had to resurface the rotors or change the pads. Now it's time ....

So, what do you think of the Brembo slotted rotors with Hawk HPS pads combination ?

My experience with them on the track wasn't all that great. The HPSes are more street than track, and I managed to fade them pretty badly on a hot session. But if you don't track with them, they're great street pads.

Personally I think Axxis Ultimates are better street alternatives. I don't carry them, but their grip is excellent for street pads, good modulation, light to moderate dusting, and fairly gentle on rotors. All around excellent compromise on all account. For track use I'd use Hawk DTC-60s or Cobalt Spec XRs.

I like Brembo products, don't get me wrong...But I managed to crack a set of Brembo "cast" drilled rotors on my BMW and I swore I would NEVER buy another cross drilled rotor unless they're heat treated. For about the same price (or few percent more) I'd rather have the longevity, performance, and light weight benefits of RacingBrake rotors.
