free brakes
Interesting story. Bought the car two months ago with just at 20,000 on the clock. My son has been complaining of braking grinding noise. So this weekend I took a look at the rotors and pads and found the driver front pad all but gone and the rotor taking a beating from what probably is the rivet to the pad. I couldn't believe that the dealer would sell the car in this condition so I took it in this morning. The service advisor pulls the pre sale inspection sheet and says the car had 60% of the pads at the time it was sold- I said no way.
Turns out after they looked into it that the mechanic that inspection measured the backing and the brake pad together! Can you imagine?! The good news is they said since it was their error they would pay for the new brakes. I thought for sure the rotor was shot but they are able to turn it, which is good.
I asked if they were putting a lower dust pad on any of the Brembos (mine is an 04 6 sp) and they said no, only go back with OEM pads. Wasn't sure that was so after reading several posts here on the topic, but since they are free I am not arguing. They said the aftermarket pads were very hard on the rotors ( felt like saying it couldn't be much worse than approving a car with "60%" brakes left when measuring the pads and the bracket!). Mistakes happen I guess, I was pleased that they are owning up and putting a full set on for free. Good thing they knew how to read the dipstick...
