quick help .... brake fitment and compatability

hey hey ...... first off, i tried doing a search and all it did was get me more confused. asking seems to be the best way.

i'm a mechanic up in ottawa and i'm going home to toronto this weekend to do the front pads + rotors on my mom's 2005 G35X. it's a 5 hour drive, so i need to know that my parts are good to go.

i called my usual parts guys today at work to order the stuff. they said that all they had listed to for infiniti was up to 2004. i was in a rush, so i told the guys to send me the regular non-brembo kit for the 2004 G35. is this stuff going to work for my mom's 2005 all-wheel drive?

at the moment i'm thinking that i'm about to bite the restocking charge. lol
please tell me i'm wrong.

I believe 05 g35x's still used the single piston calipers so you are in luck and they should match the 03-04 nonbrembos.

i think you're right on the money. i'm pulling up part numbers online and trying to do a crossreference. looks like i might just be in luck.

Bad advice there. Sorry to inform you that you are in fact out of luck with that. '03-'04 non-brembo brakes are very different from the '05-'06 brakes. No parts are interchangeable right down to the pads. I would definitely get those parts exchanged before you make the 5-hour trek!

Clint, I think redlude is correct. The '05 X retained the smaller single piston brakes that all '03 and '04 non-brembos had. It wasn't until '06 that the X got the bigger non-brembo brakes with the dual piston front calipers.

Okay ... then my mistake. Just hope I didn't give Varsity Tyler a heart-attack in the process.
