Rear Active Stearing (RAS) has nothing to do with rwd/awd. lol

It deals with the rear tires being able to turn 1 degree to imporve the turning radius of the vehicle.

Does it actually do anything?--Well, I would say I notice that my g35 can take some close turns, is it a result of the RAS? im not entirely sure.

Couldn't tell you about the r34, but the Prelude SH didn't have anything rear steering or rear wheel control related. It was equipped with ATTS system that essentially was a computer controled LSD for the front. Same thought process that they put into the new Acura RL, only the RL is awd.

The ATTS was created to help eliminate the "push" that fwd cars had when going into a corner, and will speed up the outside wheel to improve hard cornering and help "pull" the car through.

Hummm...thought the Prelude Si had an actual type of rear steering.

Anyway...yeah the RAS is speed controlled as to how much it will turn the rear wheels in a turn.
The steering ratio is different too compare to non-RAS G's.
Infiniti site is a good resource for the specs as mentioned before.

You are right, just not with the SH. Honda experimented with a 4ws Prelude in the 3rd gen, (1991 I believe) and then brought it back in the 4th gen in 1993. This was the same time they introduced VTEC in a general production car, but never put a VTEC motor in a 4ws CAR.

The SH was introduced in 1997 with the 5th gen Prelude and denoted the ATTS addition. 4 wheel steer never made it back into production after the early 90's.

Random tidbit, it's been said that Honda named it the "Prelude" because it was a prelude of things to come... this seemed to be the car they tested a lot of things out on as far as mass production (I don't count the NSX). VTEC, SH, 4WS, dash design etc.

Not that anyone cares.........

I love Hondas.. we all love Hondas.. it's just the dumb ricers who slap on the altezzas, fart cans that cant afford real cat-backs, and those lame body kits that give them a bad name!
