Rotor Bolt came loose...seized wheel???
Rotor Bolt came loose...seized wheel???
I just purchased a 2004 G35 5AT Coupe 2 days ago...I drove it for about a half hour and noticed the front right brake squeeking...brought it to a trusted indy shop and they advised the front rotors and pads needed to be replaced...they did so and I picked up the car and drove it about 10 miles when the front right wheel made a noise that sounded like something came loose...I applied the brakes and the right front wheel shuttered and locked up...I pulled into a parking lot and looked at the front wheels...the left front rotor was in the proper position...the right front rotor was wedged forward against the inside wall of the wheel...creating a feeling similar to that of a stick being wedged into the spoke of a bike wheel...the car was towed on a flat bed, (as it wouldn't drive forward) back to the shop that had just replaced the rotors and pads...they looked at the car the following morning and it was determined that the top bolt came loose, backed its way out, and had fallen out; leaving the rotor attached by the bottom bolt only...they fixed it and I drove it for about 12 miles and the exact same thing happened again?
What the hell is goin' on???
Could this have anything to do with the brake issues that Infinity is known for?
Thanks in advance for any assistance!!!

Welcome to the forum.
I think the problem is that somewhere along the line someone stripped the threads for that mount....It seem logical that is why the bolt is backing out.
You may need to replace the caliper mounting bracket.
This is in no way a problem with our cars.....I have never heard of anyone stating this before.
See if the Service shop will make good on the problem since it did not occur until they did the brake job on your car.
Otherwise.....Hit up Jason@riverside infiniti, they are a sponsor on this site. I'm sure he can get you what you need, and I believe he gives the forum members a discount.
Good luck and Congrats on your purchase. After this is all said and done, I'm sure you will love the car.

Thanks for the advice
Thanks for your thoughts...the dealer is going to do whatever it takes to rectify the situation...I'm so glad to hear that it's not a problem inherant to the G35...I've read a few forums and consumer reports that discuss brake wear...I'm hoping that the brake wear has to do with driving style and less with the vehicle in general...which I do feel might be the case...I absolutely love the G so far...I'm hoping that this will be it for a while on the brake issues.
Thanks Again!
Thanks Again!
Thank you for the tip
Gotcha...I'm gonna print all of this out on Monday morning and show the techs the advice from y'all...thanx...I really appreciate it!
Anybody ever heard of this happening on a G35 or any other vehicle?
