Getting Falken fk452's?

I'm pretty much set on getting the Falken's from edgeracing.com for the OEM 19's.....but what size? There is SO much conflicting information I don't know where to start.

Stock sizes are 225/40/19 for the front? 245/40/19 for the rear?

I can find that size in the rears but not the fronts. What setup do you have? What setup do you suggest? Daily driving/performance duties.

Are the Falken's the right choice? I see some people do the 255's in the rear, and then some people think that's a terrible choice. Opinions? What about the fronts? Should I keep the stock stagger? 235's front, 255's rear? 245's all the way around?

245/35/19 or 235/40/19 front and 245/40/19 or 255/40/19 rear would be your best options if those sizes aren't availabe.

Which would be better?

245/35/19 Front matched with 255 40/19 Rear

Or

235/40/19 Front matched with 245/40/19 Rear

Or

235/40/19 Front matched with 255/40/19 Rear

??? Falken's still what you would choose?

I have 245/35/19 Front matched with 255 40/19 Rear falken 452's on my car with OEM 19s and theyre awesome, no problems at all.
I tried 235/40/19 Front matched with 255/40/19 Rear and THEY WILL NOT WORK, that combo messed my VDC up and I had to exchange the fronts for 245's.

EmptyWallet Oct 20, 2007 03:51 PM

Can you explain how that combo won't work? It seems like it's a closer to stock ratio than the 245 front 255 rear. Then again, I don't know much about it.

Also, a 245/35 would be about the same ride (sidewall) as a 225/40 right? Might actually be a bit softer?

I bought the 235s for the front and the 255's for the rear and as soon as I drove out of the discount tire parking lot my SLIP and VDC lights came on, I took it to the dealer and they told me I had a "wrong tire size" code (the first one they had ever seen. So I went back to discount tire and swapped the 235's out for 245s and have had no problems since.

Sweet, sounds like the route I will go. That sounds strange though. I wish I knew why.

2001Z71 Oct 20, 2007 07:25 PM

because for them to work they need to be within a certain ratio due to the VDC

EmptyWallet Oct 20, 2007 08:32 PM

Ah I see. Seems like 235/40/19 Front matched with 255/40/19 would be a closer ration though? Or am I just talking out of my *** and don't know what I'm saying?

I know what works, and what doesnt work, so take what you will..

EmptyWallet Oct 21, 2007 10:43 PM

Whoa there. I didn't mean it like that. I'd just like to learn why. I'm sorry if that came off wrong.

2001Z71 Oct 22, 2007 01:42 AM

Well, Im sorry. I didnt really mean for it to sound that way either. Im just saying that the 235 / 255 combo wont work on our cars. I also started a thread like this a while back before I bought my tires:

also need to edit my above posts because I was running 235/35/19 front and 255/40/19 rear. I dont think Falken even makes a 235/40/19 ?

that makes a huge difference compared to a 235/40/19, but that size isn't available, so the only option is a 245/35/19
