Blew Rear Shock - Sport Suspension

2004 5AT Sport Suspension sedan, 64k miles. Handling slowly got squirrelly until a snappy lane change would break the back end loose. Almost like a torque steer on a quick launch. What's up? Looked but nothing broken. One rear shock was oil-soaked. 'It has to be that!'. Replaced the pair...dealer..$360 for the pair...ouch!

Rides like new. For the money, is OEM the the way to go? I can't figure out those 'coiler-over adustibles' as being any better value. So, WTF?

If you blow out your rear shocks, what's the way to go?
