My Friend is Having Problems

So my friend just purchased a used 03 Coupe with 55k in mileage roughly. So he sent me an email telling me he felt his car was having some problems and wanted to know what I thought. So I figured I ask you guys for some opinions before sending him off tot he stealership.

1.When you let go of the wheel the car veers to the left; it doesn't stay straight.- I told him sounds like he needs a wheel alignment

2.When he clicks the lock button on the remote the horn doesn't beep. The lights just blink to let him no the door is locked.-I suggested a fuse

3.When he turns the car off and takes the key out of the ignition the dome lights don't come on. he said he checked the on/off switch and that doesn't do anything.- Again I suggested checking the fuses.

4.Rattling- lol I told him get used to it.

Well if you guys have any sugestions let me know so I can share some thoughts with him.

Thanks guys/gals!

1. Go get the alignment checked, if its out, get it fixed, if its not out, cross rotate the front tires or get new ones.

2. Hold down the lock and unlock at the same time until the horn beeps.

3. Most likely a fuse

4. Yur fukced on that one!! haha

1. he could be experiencing radial pull. i got my car aligned about 7 times in the last month (long story, hit potholes, etc.) anyway, the last time, the alignment was right on but i still got pull to the right. said it was probably radial pull and they made adjustments to compensate for it. now it drives straight!

I'd take it right back, making adjustments in the alignment to solve a radial pull?!?! are you kidding me? That would mean that your alignment is out of spec to compensate for the pulling that the tires are causing... A RADIAL pull is caused by one or both of the front tires.

What happens when friends don't pay EXPERTS to do prebuy inspections and list the $3,000 in defects usually not repaired by average owners under warranty and just wear and tear in 5 year old 55k entry lux cars.

Sounds like it might have been wrecked and repaired [poorly as normal] since most don't hire consultants to oversee paint and body shops.

Since insurance pays paint and body the shops do the minimal as demanded by insurance. Doing too much leads to no business from insurance.

The dealer will happily for a fee list recommended repairs.

yeah, i know but the pull was ever so slight so the "adjustment" was just enough. i had it aligned at 3 different places to make sure the alignment was right but i still got the pull and my steering wheel was just a bit off. so, i just told the last place to try and make the adjustment w/o messing w/ the specs and now it's good!
