06 sedan brake ?
06 sedan brake ?
Just had an oil change done at 33,750 miles. They told me my front brakes are at 80% and my rear brakes are at 5 mm and will need to be worked on soon. Is this normal? I thought the fronts would wear out before the rears. Seems like a big difference in wear to me as well, 80% and 5 mm??
I just had a discussion with another member regarding the 05+ brake upgrades on a 03-04.
He said his aggressive driving really works the rear brakes via the VDC. If you engage the VDC, it uses the rear brakes to get you back in line.

I am the original owner and only driver. 90% of my driving is on the freeway with little stop and go (not a lot of braking at 0 dark thirty in the morning). I have felt the VDC a few times when I am goofing off but it is not a common thing. I know they won't wear the same, but that seems like a huge difference and it seemed backwards to me. I am wondering if the tech may have got it backwards and the fronts are at 5 mm and the rear are at 80%. I looked at the receipt and it is on there the way they told me but?? thanks for the replies guys
the tech goofing would've been my second guess but its very odd to see it that way... for 80% life left at almost 34k is almost unheard of... maybe it was 8mm in the front.. have you gotten a second mechanic to look at it yet?
I haven't had anyone else look at them yet. I was making calls today for prices. I called the dealer and talked to the service writer (so take it for what it is worth)- he said that in the 06 it is very common for the fronts to long outlast the rears. He claims Infiniti over did them to improve for the short life spans of the 03-04 years. The dealer wanted 300 bucks for the rear pads and rotors turned. I called one of the local shops and they wanted 279. I don't really want to throw pads in there without turning the rotors, but it may come down to that for that price. It is hard to take the rotors off and then get them to a shop (while the car is on jack stands). If I end up paying the full price, at least the dealer gives a loaner for getting fu*ked over. I need to start a mobile rotor turning business
