DOT 3 and DOT 4 brake fuild mix???
LOL!
I've asked this before. How old is your DOT 3? If it's older than 1 year, you should have had them just flush. I have no idea how that guy got 70% new / 30% old. If it was like that, they should have just finished the flushing.
At this point, (if you DOT 3 ins't older than 2 years) just leave it and do a full flush next year.

yea yeah my infos mixed -__-
do NOT mix fluids!! you can do so but if its my own car I wouldnt do it unless it was an emergency! Dot 3 should NEVER be mixed with Dot 4..
like Mike said.. would you put in 5w20 in your motor.. ehh yeah if I my dipstick wasnt picking up anything and theres nothing around.. but aside from that why would you ever mix 5w20 with 10w30??
Also I'm pretty sure that if you mix dot 3 with dot 4 the boiling point is LOWER then dot 3..

damnit!!! That's hella gay. What should I do now? Go back and ask them to do a full flush again? Or should I just ask for money back? I paid full price for this service, somehow I feel like i don't get the most of it. This is not a getto shop, it's somewhat well-known in SF, CA.
DOT 4 is backwards compatible with DOT 3. If you track your car, it might make a difference mixing DOT 3 and DOT 4. Otherwise, for normal street use, your brake fluid will be fine.
I agree with Jeff that your fluid should be exchanged if it's over a year old, but it seems that the mechanic already exchanged the fluid with DOT 4.

If you mixed 5w20 with 10w30, you would just get something in the 7w25 range. I mix 5w30 and 10w30 all the time depending on the season and temperatures, brake fluid would be no different. The only problem I have is that the OP's mechanic didn't flush all the old fluid out. It doesn't matter that dot3 is mixed with dot4, they are just standards for a product
