Brakes Bigger Rotors for 2005 G35X

Hi, all didnt find much searching for DIY brakes for my 05 G35X. I do not have the Touring package, so I have these dinky little calipers and rotors. Yes the car does stop with some authority, but I am upgrading from the stock 17x5.5in rims to 18x8's, and I want to upgrade to larger rotors/calipers that are slotted and drilled to increase my stopping power. Should I try and find the factory Brembo kit and install it? or would simply upgraded to factory size slotted and drilled rotors be a more cost effective upgrade? I thank-you all for your time.

The 05X is the bastard child of the 2005 model line up. It wears the puny single piston front brakes and 11" rotors of the 03-04 models.

For 2005, all G35 sedans got 12.6" front rotors and dual-piston calipers and 12.1" rear rotors EXCEPT for the AWD model.

In 2006, however, all models including AWD got the larger 12.6/12.1 brakes.

It might be worth it for you to try and upgrade to the larger OEM 12.6" rotors and 12.1 rear rotors. It would be cheaper and more of a performance upgrade than drilled rotors.

BTW, drilled rotors are not an upgrade. They just look cool. In reality, they are not the best for performance braking.

Thanks, I was looking at an 05 sedan earlier in the week and they did look bigger. I agree that the larger rotors and dual piston calipers would be much better for braking due to the larger surface area when compared to OEM size slotted and drilled rotors. So I basically need the larger rotors, pads and calipers correct? or do I need to upgrade any other components to make it function properly? Thanks again.

I am not 100% sure. These are my OEM brakes so i didn't look too much into seeing what would need to be changed. I know you'd need the front calipers, rotors and rear rotors and more than likely rear calipers (unless a bracket was changed to compensate for the extra offset)

Unsure if brake lines need to be changed.

Jeff92se, what parts did you have to go out and buy? Obviously front calipers and rotors and rear rotors, but did you buy an entire new rear caliper, or was there just a bracket that you needed?

You could in theory just by the rear caliper bracket but I bought a set complete.
