You know.. I've changed the OEM pads about 4 times already, and I finally figured out how to MINIMIZE squeal..

TIP: Don't use the black grease that comes with the OEM pads
-- 1. they don't include "enough" for both pads
-- 2. they don't seem to be "thick" enough

TIP: Goto Pepboys/Autozone/etc and get their $1 pad grease for EACH side.
-- 1. put a generous amount on the shim/pad

Of course, this isn't going to prevent the brake dust squeal and cold-morning squeal, but i found out that this eliminate the "every-light" squeal MUCH better than the OEM grease..

i kinda thought about this because the last 2 pad changes, I regreased the pads within 2 weeks.

The shims degrade [rubber between sandwitch] with exposure to heat. If as new is desired then you need new oem shims with each pad replacement!

You can also try the 3M Brake Lube/Anti Seize. I have found that to work very well with the Brembo pads. No squealing ever, though the new pads do have the shims attached from the factory...

Isn't it true that if you don't brake in your brakes good within the first 500 miles then they will squeak throughout the life of your brakes? I thought that was the reason why my new breaks squeaked so much.

IMO, the noise isn't coming from the pad shim, it's coming from the pad grazing the lip of a worn rotor. See my DIY fix https://g35driver.com/forums/brakes-...ke-squeal.html

The shims are just vibration dampers and insulators.............any noise results from vibration of pad. The audio frequency spectrum must be analysed to understand the causes.

It is expected that owners perform adequate mainteance on brake system to avoid a lip on rotor by retrueing or replacement at frequent intervals.
