coilover noob, question on lowering the rear

so I have a set of greddy type S I am going to install and I just had a quick question, I know you lower the shock body to change the height on the front, and the springs on the body for preload, my question is on the rear If I just want to change the height, I only lower the shock body right? I just dont see how that would work bc the spring will still be in the same position, but the shock will be holding the body down compressing the spring more, as apposed to on the front where the spring never changes. so do you have to lower it with the shock body AND the spring? could someone go into detail on this for me? thank you for your help!

For the rear, assuming its not a true coilover, you change the ride height via the adjustable spring perch on the spring assembly and you lower the shocks the same amount. You're putting more load on the shocks if you don't lower them and the springs might move around during certain dips/bumps in (for example) the highway.
