Please forgive give me if someone open a thread like this, but I have been looking for 20min and I'm doing this on my iphone so I'm a little limited.

I have an 05 g35 coupe, my brakes still have decent life on them, but I want to start shopping for new pads to replace them this coming spring. This is my first infiniti but not my first car so going to the dealer is out of the question. They over charge way too much for my liking and a brake pad job is a pretty simple DIY.

My question is should I go with oem pads from infiniti or get aftermarket I don't really push the car that hard so I don't need some super stopping power pads just oem quality with medium to low brake dust.

Can you give me price points and where can I order oem pads if I had too or do I need to purchase then from infiniti and
Get ripped off or can they be order from a retailer.

Well, I do not like the OE pads on my wife's 05 Sedan. Rears GONE at 30K.
Started doing some research and determined these were the pads I would consider: Akebono & Hawks HPS
Actually, decided to go with Duralast CMax since the only real concern my wife had was that they didn't squeel like a pig like the Nissan pads on my 04 Coupe.
When my pads go on my coupe, I'll probably go with the Hawks.
You can get Hawks at Tirerack or Pep Boys.
I'll get mine at Pep Boys cause I like keeping my $$$ local

go with oem or hawks. reuse the shims from your oem pads, unless the new pads have the shims, also dont forget to use the brake grease to avoid squeal.

Unless you've had issues with the OEM pads, there is no reason to change. They have some of the best OEM performance numbers out there and produce very little dust and last a decent amount of time.

i'd stay with oem. you can it both front and rear sets for less than one ben franklin off g35parts.com. if you have a local dealer with an online shop, you may just be able do a pickup/will call to save on shipping plus no waiting. i should have done it that way with my brake pads after i gone thru the process with the belts.

ppffff i don't know about your car my my OEM brembos make a TON of dust, drives me nuts

OEM are nice...very little noise and dust on my 06 sedan. They wore quite well, especially if you consider my wife's tendency to forget about the parking break.

I prefer Hawk HPS myself, they have more bite than OEMs. I just picked up a second set of HPS pads from a vendor on this forum for about what OEMs cost. I heard the Hawk ceramic pads are nice too -- less noise and almost no dust.

The OP has an 05 coupe, which comes with dual piston floating calipers, not brembos.

oem baby!!! just put some on. Werkz like a charm. Go to this guy you can get pads for like 40 bucks wit shipping. Circle infiniti East long branch nj. Ask for the ebay guy. Tell em you saw the pads on ebay. 40 buck should do it!!! good luck

I agree 100%. My girlfriend just had her rear pads changed today after 30,000 miles on her 06 G35 Sedan. I think 30K for the OEM pads that really stop these cars well is more than adequate. Why fix it if it's not broke? I understand the 03-04 non brembo cars like mine having issues with premature wear at 12-13,000 miles. I remedied mine with ceramic pads and problem is gone (although sacraficed stop stopping bite). The 05 and newer G35s stop quite well without alot of dust. I would keep them.
