Noise In Front-End HELPPP!!!!!!
Everytime i hit a pot hole or pump theres a thumping sound coming from my passengers side front end. it almost sounds like i have a worn shock or somthing. one of my buddys said it could be worn busings or a control arm. plus the car has a slight viberation on the highway over 60 any ideas? my car is a 2004 g35x. thanks
Quoted for truth. Its real annoying. The compression rods seem to act up a lot when their on an incline like the second post described. Find a nice incline (driveway preferable) stop and start a few time and if you hear a creaking, thumping, cracking, or any other similar noise then you can be mostly sure that your compression rods are going bad.
i don't think he's talking about the creak sound that happens when going slowly over bumps that can be taken care of by spraying all the bushings and suspension parts with silicone lube, i get the same thumping sound when driving around hitting holes, sounds like the shock is lose but i tightened and nothing, it is almost constant now on my driver's side annoys the **** out of me, i had a stabilizer bar end link changed that didn't solve anything, i have a fvcking vibration too on the highway it starts at around 65mph right at fvcking crusing speed and gets worse as i let off the gas pedal goes away as i hit the gas pedal again, then after 80mph it goes away, 4 brand new tires with balancing didn't help

Sound coming from the rear passenger side is normally the sway bar endlinks . . . stocks are weak with little articulation. Change those and be much happier.

Compression (strut) rod bushings cause a "squeaky" sound which you hear on bumps and turns.
Strut(shock) mounts will just clunk when you go over bumps. When you are going faster (30 mph) it might sound more like a vibration.

yea my sound is more of a clunk. are those hard to replace or can i try tightening them?
hey Tollboothwilley, can you identify which part you have replaced, i don't see strut mounts in the diagram there must be another term for it
