Quick question about shims and the hardware kit
I did a quick search but didnt find too much.
I was reading through FSM and it seems they recommend replacing the brake shims with the brake job. In a few posts I read it seemed like people whom had noise were missing or the grease dried out between the shims. I have no noise and I have all shims.
So my question is, can I just clean all the parts and apply fresh grease? Or do you guys think I should buy the hardware kit. Its like $110 for the front and rear kits. Im already over my budget on this so if its not a big deal I would really like to reuse the hardware
I have a rwd sedan with 72k
I have hawk pads and stop tech rotors on the way from Riverside.

At 72 K you are very likely to need new shims, espeically if you never changed brakes. I did my fronts at 40K km and they were all rusted out-I am not sure about your winter conditions. I still reused them, but clicking noise drove me crazy and I had to take everything apart again and install new shims. I did another brake job since then and reused old hardware, it was in OK condition.
