Question question about cutting springs

i know cutting springs is bad and all... but i have a question.

let's say you cut coils on a spring that doesn't drop the car that low, like tein H-tech or espelir, and so after cutting your drop will be like 1.25".
wouldn't this be easier on your shocks than dumping the car with say tanabe DF210 to 1.5" or more?

i mean cutting springs is bad cuz it'll wear out your shocks faster right?

cutting the springs changes the springrate of the spring to some unknown value, higher than the original value. Decreased travel/bottoming out, and springs that are too stiff for the shocks to control them lead to premature failure. Cutting the springs compounds that problem.

A shorter spring is designed with that length in mind with the appropriate compression rate. A longer spring was designed to be able to travel its length, you make it shorter, and now it has less length to travel which will INCREASE your likelihood of bottoming out, AND put more stain on your shocks.

All around a bad idea to cut springs, just buy the right spring for your desired drop, or get adjustable coilovers.

i just wanted to get the right height without having to fork over cash for coils. i will eventually get coils once i need to change my shocks.

.
ok so for example, the DF210 fronts have a spring rate less than OEM and drops the front about 1.7".
tein Z H-tech have a spring rate greater than OEM and drops the front about 0.6". let's say i cut the H-techs to drop the front 1.25".
so you're saying going with the DF210's is better and have less strain on my shocks and have less chance of bottoming out than the cut H-techs?
