Struts/Shocks for 2003 G35 Sedan
Struts/Shocks for 2003 G35 Sedan
Mine has 69000 miles now, and I am planning to replace the struts/shocks. My plan is not to lower the car, and to keep the stock (non-sport) springs. Is anyone using the blue Tokiko struts/shocks and what are your impressions versus using the stock units. My car has Firestone Wide Ovals now, but am changing over to Bridgestone RE960 in a couple of weeks.
I have them, but they are for a 350z on revised z springs. I also had stock sport suspension. I love the way my car feels now. This is how the sport suspension should have been from the factory.
But some don't want to lower their car. I for one do not want to lose ground clearance for winter snow driving and my angled driveway. Plus i don't really care about modifying my G35 at all.
I wonder if replacing the shocks/struts (when they wear out) with stock suspension would give a cozy, but sporty ride? I just don't want to put OEM stock replacement stuff back in

Struts
Does anyone know if the shock calibration for the 350Z is different from the one for the G35 sedan? I am really looking for an improved version of my G35, not for a lowered canyon carver. Mustang is right about me not wanting to lower this car.
My other car is a 2008 Z06, and at stock ride height, it is already so low it drags the air dam on the driveway every time I back out. So I don't need another one like that.

I used tokico blues on my old car and it definitely firmed things up without having to change the springs. The car will feel slightly sportier while at the same ride height. I guess to some folks, it's just a lot of money to spend with minimal perceived payoff. You might want to consider picking up some OEM sport struts/shocks if you wanted to save a lot of money and get a slightly firmer dampening.
I LOVE my Tokico HP blue shocks/struts. I have them on my coupe with Tein 350Z-Htech springs. They are definitely a bit stiffer than the stock shocks/struts, but the ride is very comfortable with my setup, and I daily drive mine. The HP blues are the exact same as the Tokico D-specs, minus the adjustable feature of the D-Specs. I picked mine up from www.gripmotorsports.com. They had the best price I could find anywhere on these brand new and shipped fast (i got mine in 3 days!). Call to see if they have them in stock first.
Here they are after just being installed. Gotta love my "rainbowed" color of a suspension setup!
