Just had my 2006 G35 AWD at the dealer for state inspection. I was told the rear pads and rotors need to be replaced. Only 27k on the odometer. Is this normal? 75% of my driving is highway. Any feedback is appreciated.

What was the total number and duration of your braking over 27k? Hopefully you see that every car, traffic situation, and driver is different.
20-30k appears about average with some getting 10k and some 35-40k.

If you install a loud horn inside cabin every time you touch the brakes I'm sure you can halve the wear rate.
I have used this method in past to correct drivers who unconciously ride brake pedal. Left foot brakers.

Thanks for the feedback. My wife accuses me of never using my brakes, but if 27k is average I guess I'll live with that. I'm going to shop for replacement parts that might last longer. Any suggestions?

I can't say for the G since I just got it, but I've had cars that the front brakes lasted 95k and the backs lasted almost 150k. It's all how and where you drive. I do mostly highway and I rarely tailgate anyone. I usually see the car in front of me hit their brakes dozens of times where I won't have to touch mine at all.

Nissan uses fast wearing pads and rotors to gain a few tenths of a second in 60 mph panic stops. This faster ramp up of friction reduces stopping distances by 9-18 feet.

When you are traveling 88 feet per second every tenth counts.

Some don't mind increasing braking distance to save money, why they make aftermarket components.

Same with Tires easy to save money and decrease preformance and increase stopping distance especially in cold wet conditions where another 20-30 feet can be lost while saving money.
