Hat of aftermarket rotors too thin to mount wheels?

Yes, I searched. Here's my issue:

I bought a used 04 coupe. The guy who had it before me put cross drilled rotors on the front. I just bought some wheels that were Brembo specific (19x8.5 +20 front), and they are hitting the calipers anyway. My personal opinion is that the guy bought some cheapo rotors and the face of them (where the studs come through) is thinner than factory rotors. Has anyone had any problems with this, or am I the only sucker? I really need some help on this one. I think a remedy would be some 5 mm spacers, but I'm not pumped about having to use them. This one sucks because it could just be my exact wheel/rotor setup. Please help!!!!!!!!

The rotor thickness at the hub shouldn't vary that much, it can move a little but the rotor did not change the location of the caliper since that is mounted to the spindle.

If the hat were 5mm thicker, you could possibly have issues with the studs being too short.

Offset does not determine caliper clearance, it's the design of face of the wheel.

^^When I ordered my wheels, I called 3 places to verify the setup. ALL OF THEM told me that these wheels were good for for an 04 coupe with brembos. Thanks for the info (especially the name of the part I'm talking about). But, my question is if anyone has had any problems with the hat of aftermarket rotors being thinner than OEMs to a point where their wheels hit the calipers? I can't believe that 3 different wheel suppliers would have the specs wrong.

^^And when you say that the rotor thickness at the hub shouldn't vary "that much", does anyone think that it would be out of the ordinary for that thickness to vary 2-4mm? That's probably all I need. It's really close to fitting.

The wheel suppliers are only reading what the specs say. If the manufacturer mislabeled the specs then everyone you call will have the wrong info unless they have personally seen otherwise. You could always try putting a small spacer on and see if that takes care of the problem.

Does anyone have specs on the thickness of the hat on an OEM rotor?

So I was thinking and...one way I could figure out if the hat of the rotors is actually thinner is by measuring the amount of exposed lug as compared to rear. I'm thinking they should be the same because the factory 18s are the same wheel all the way around. Does anyone know if the front and rear lugs are the same length for sure?

The answer:

Just in case anyone was wondering what the outcome was: lug length is the same front and rear. So basically, The wheel manufacturer's measurements/specs/guesswork was wrong. The crappy thing is that I only need about 2-3mm to be good. So, I'm sure I can find the answer elsewhere, but does anyone know if I can run 5mm spacers on OEM lugs? Thanks for all the info everyone.
