OEM bump travel?
Most shocks have a < 7.0" stroke length so a perfectly balanced suspension would have them compressed 3.5" to allow symetrical movement.
The problem is differences in loaded weight: just driver, passengers, full or empty gas tank, luggage, etc.
3.5 x 25.4 = 89mm but what is 6mm or 0.236".
When a 200 pound driver sits in seat the usual suspension will compress ~ 1/2" on driverside. Same with full vs low gasoline in rear ~ 1/2" on both rear springs.
I laugh when people corner balance to look good with no driver vs the distribution while actually driving.
Corner balance means to actually redesign the weight distribution not the springs for looks.

OEM front shocks have 130mm travel, 105mm (~4”) down (minus OEM bump stop length), and 25mm (1”) up, while on OEM springs.
I intend to change front springs (448lbs) but they would limit D-Spec shocks travel in each direction to 50mm(2"), with 20mm bump stop.
Would 2 inch shock compression limit be way too little for street?

If anyone cares, with OEM bump stop, OEM shocks have only 70mm down stroke and 20mm up stroke.
I still don’t know if 50mm down stroke is too little for our roads. How much bump travel do average coilovers have?
