cutting rotors after installing new pads

so my brakes were squeaking alot and i brought the car to infiniti and they told me my aftermarket pads were the problem. so i said fine but are my rotors fine and they said yes you just need pads and hardware kit.

so i order the pads put them on ( myself) , taking infiniti's word that my rotors were good and now i can hear a very low grinding noise when i start driving and after the brakes warm up it goes away or at least i can't hear it. so the problem is still there not as bad as before.

so im figuring my rotors need to be cut might be warped or w.e they dont vibrate much unless i brake from 75-80mph. so they are not badly warped.

but my question is since i already put new pads on for about 2 weeks is it ok to cut the rotors and continue using my 2 week old pads? i haven't braked hard yet because i've been wearing them in.

You can cut the rotors, but have you made sure the pads were bedded in correctly? That can cause noise if not done properly. Has to be enough transfer film from the pad to the rotor when installing/bedding in new pads.

Remember if you cut rotors you're losing material that helps absorb and dissipate heat. That can lead to warping/cracking sooner than expected. When given the option to cut or buy new I'd always buy new.

i did standard procedure to bed them in, i would imagine there fine and i only use the car on weekends so they maybe have 300-400miles since i install them. when i take the tires off and spin the rotor theres a certain section that grinds on the pads, which must be the part that is warped or uneven.

i would buy new rotors but if i dont need to, i dont want to. im going to take them off this weekend and take them in and see what the shop says about cutting them. if they say there too low to cut then i buy new ones.

im just pissed beacuse infiniti told me the rotors were fine, now i have to take everything apart again.
at least this time i will wear gloves so im not rubbing grease off for 2 days.

any time that you replace pads, the rotors should always be cut to be sure that the pad and rotor bed correctly with each other. otherwise, any imperfections in the rotor will then be transfered to the new pads.
