warped rotors dangerous?

Just got back from my 60K service on my 05 coupe and my front rotors are warped by about .002, but i still have 40% left on my front pads so they said I could wait to fix until the pads wore down if i could live with the shuddering

Question is...can slightly warped rotors be dangerous to dirve on? They start shuddering above 45 mph and get pretty nasty above 90. First really noticed it when i got on the brakes doing 100+ on a downhill...kind of freaked me out...just didn't feel stable

a out of round rotor will cause you a vibration in the foot pedal. its perfectly save to drive on just plan on buying a new set of rotors and brake pads. never get rotors machined.

You want to get those replaced. Trust me when it comes time to actually apply the brakes when it matters you want to be able to grip the steering wheel and stop accurately. My girls rotors were so bad that anytime you even lightly pushed on the brakes the steering wheel would shake violently... If you don't do it you will regret it when you have to make a very abrupt sudden stop...

+1 replace the rotors and pads
as soon as you have the funds to do so ..

And dont drive very hard . Give yourself alot of space between yourself and the vehicle in front of you ..

I had the same problem and replaced with dba slotted rotors and hawk pads .. Feels great now .. No shakiness / no shuttering . Steering wheel and brake pedal feel great now ..

I replaced all four rotors (dba slotted from a vendor on this site)
and all four sets of pads front and rear ..

if you would like a cheap solution, your best bet would be to RESURFACE THE ROTORS. They basically grind or polish out the bumps making your rotors flat again, most shops don't have a resurfacing machine so you have to go around and look for a shop that does, it costs about $50 and it's a 30 minute job.

it will bring them back to OEM spec, it will be totally fine to drive on afterwards, but I personally would get new rotors soon as I can just for peace of mind
