heat guard right front - problem

Ok so i hit a coyote awhile back and i'm believing that all this time this noise on rough roads is the heat guard right front rotor. Reason i'm thinking this is a took a rubber mallet and tapped the right front tire. Booyah made the loudest noise in the world. I tried bending the heatguard away from the rotor. Now its making a clunking noise when driving but no noise when i take the mallet. Any ideas?? Can the heatguard be removed? I do not do any racing or anything of that sort.

I finally narrowed the noise down after replacing the rotors with powerslot slotted rotors and pads....then realizing it wasnt my brakes but rather the metal guard piece on the side of the rotor.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
