hks RS coilover shock perch snaped!

so i was diving about to get off of the freeway today, and my front driver side drops to the floor, scrapping and bouncing. i pull of and take my wheel off to find that my shock snapped on the lower perch that bolts to the lower control arm. the two tables broke off. i couldn't believe it. my control arm scraped on one of those buttons that divides the road.

I have no idea why the hell this happened?? i didnt his any dips or bumps. ill get some pictures tomorrow.

does anyone know if HKS will replace this shock?? i saw they have a 1yr warranty, but i've had em for about a year and a half.

heres my car when i pulled over.....

yea, it could have been a lot worse....

The G, seems fine?? i put the stock suspension on i front and drove home. but i noticed its scrapped up pretty bad on the bottom. the rounded tabs that sick out on the bottom of the sub-frame where the lower control arm bolts into was bent, but it didnt look like it did any serious damage that would affect driving...

im gonna try to get a hold of HKS tomorrow. hopefully ill at least get a new shock. still cant believe that part broke..

If not a new shock. They should definitely give you a large discount because that sounds defective.

HKS has had problems with their coilovers snapping like this for quite a few years...I first heard about it back in 2000 when I was living in Japan. I'm surprised that this is STILL happening! One of my friends almost died from an HKS coilover snapping in half while going well over 100mph...the car rolled off of the road surface & down a hill. He was in the hospital for 2 months. This is one example of why most aftermarket part manufacturers say these parts aren't truly meant as OEM replacements & are for offroad use only, liability.
