Might be a dumb question, not sure....but I bought a little can of degreaser/lube and its apparently supposed to stop squeaks on breaks. It said on the directions that the actual brakes didn't need to be taken off so I applied the lubricant, waited an hour, drove...and its still there. It's killing me.

Ok, i got the problem diagnosed. Its the brake pads. Luckily, they aren't expensive. The place I took it to "suggested" I get all 4 pads and rotors replaced and quoted me at $600-something. Negative, I only need the front right done. He said the rotors are fine but they need to be "turned" (whatever that means) but that I shouldn't put new brake pads on old rotors. This seem right? Can I just purchase some brake pads for about $50 put them on there or does the rotor necessarily need to be turned? Also, should I go ahead and do both sides...front + right, even thought I'm only experiencing trouble with the front right? Thanks guys

I hard to give advice without seeing how much wear the pads and rotors have. IMO I would just change the front pads.

From your posts it sounds like you don't have very much mechanical experience (at least with brakes). But it's ok as long as you're a true G35 enthusiast and everyone here is at a different comfort zone/level. There are 2 schools of thought. You could have your rotors "turned" which means it's machined down so the surface is uniform OR you could have them replaced entirely. I personally recommend the latter so you know you have a perfectly balanced rotor with plenty of life since they're new. It's only for a few dollars more per corner and you get new equipment. $600 for new brakes 4 corners doesn't sound too bad for a shop to do it. I think the dealer charges upward of $1,000 for all new brake setup. When I did my brakes my rears were actually almost gone as well as my fronts. You can check by looking up at them and through the caliper when the wheel is off.

If you think you can manage there are plenty of DIYs here and my350z about how to change brake pads, rotors, brake lines, etc. It's much cheaper to do it this way. Just search for it and have plenty of patience and a nice set of metric tools. It helps to have a friend who's worked on brakes before. There are also plenty of posts on which pads and rotors to choose if you want to be selective about the type of brakes you want to run.

If I were u, I would just order all new rotors and pads for all corners... Then jus watch a DIY brake job. I recently jus ordered cross drilled and slotted rotors for front and rear and pads for front and rear for my stock brembos, I paid 270 shipped! And I live in Hawaii!! Just gotta find the hookups....

Wow, thanks for the reply. That helped tremendously. I think I'm going to foot the bill and change the rotors too since it'll probably save a few bucks down the road. I was just trying to get expert opinion on this 'turning' concept because I hadn't heard that before. I have a friend who's pretty good at DIY's so might get him to help me with it. Like I said above I had a similar problem so I went ahead and changed all 4 corners with new everything. I paid $534 shipped w/ SS brake lines included.
