Calipers/Waranty

I have a 2006 G35...bought the extended warranty plan.

My back brakes went recently and I had them fixed but as my mechanic was fixing them he found that the caliper was frozen. He had to go to the dealer to find the appropriate caliper for the car and it cost 250$

Pads and rotors are not covered in my warranty but calipers are. My mechanic went ahead and bught the caliper without asking me. In addition the brakes could not be fixed without getting this new caliper.

What are the chances I get refunded from Infiniti for the caliper that is covered in my warranty?

Pretty slim, I'd say, since the extended warranty specifies that it will cover an Infiniti dealer to make the repair, and that any repairs must be approved by Nissan North America first before they are made.

also, I'm not sure why he needed to replace the whole caliper - it could have probably been rebuilt for a lot less.

I guess the caliper was "rusted frozen" so that when trying to unfreeze it it was destroyed

Rusted frozen? I haven't been around cars that long to have heard this before, but that just doesn't sound right.
