Stock Rotors' Life

My '03 G sedan has a little over 59K miles, I've changed the front rotors twice already. The second set lasted for about 30K miles, more city driving than highway. Does that 30K miles lifespan reasonable for stock rotors?

My 04 6mt coupe w/Brembos has 69k, and original rotors. They aren't warped, and the steering wheel doesn't shake when applying the brakes. I have replaced the pads, once. Maybe you are either too hard on the brakes or brake too much?

Brembos are different then the regular discs... I changed mine at 30k and went to a crappy aftermarket one that failed on me. At 40k I invested in a nice cross drilled rotor and have been smooth sailing since

How long rotors last depends a lot on how you stress them. If you live in an area with a lot of hills with stop signs and stop lights, the rotors will get "warped" more easily. By "warp", I don't mean physical warping of rotor, but a condition in which the brakes start to judder when you apply them, caused by various reasons.

A set of rotors could last 50,000 miles in Arizona, while in Colorado the same set of rotors would start to create a very bad judder at 7000 miles due to the large amount of stop and go hills.

I speak from experience

I replace the front rotors on my G35 every December, resurface them in June.

I tried everything in the book to make them last longer, but it's just the nature of how I use them. I even bought a $100 torque wrench just to precisely torque my brake components and my wheel lugs. I even tried many different pad materials from different companies, but my rotors still create a very bad vibration after every 9000 miles or so. My neighbours all have similar problems. It's just the hills.

Ha! I have 92,000+ on my OEM rotors, the BEST I have ever owned on ANY car. They still look new.

Maybe your replacement rotors are junk, I didn't replace my OEM Brembo rotors until around 130,000K. the replacements were cheap ones off ebay and they became warped within 20,000k. I dug deep down into my pockets and replaced them with Authentic Brembo rotors and so far all is good. I use Hawk pads with them.

I tried some of the better rotors, such as OEM, Centric Premium, Raybestos, and Beck Arnley. No eBay cheap stuff for me.

Funny thing is that Beck Arnley cost as much as OEM, but quality is truly the worst out of the more expensive OEM replacement rotors. I have EBC slotted rotors on the way. They are what I use on the Elise. Hope they do well on my G35.

My wife drives the G mostly. I believe she drives with one foot on the gas and one on the brake, therefore we get ours turned and replaced frequently.

I tried StopTech (owned by Centric) for a while, bad JuJu.

Yeah, we see that happen on all sorts of forums for drilled rotors

For me, I am still trying out different rotors. By the time I find the best rotor for my purpose, I may already have bought a new car, and that new car may not go through rotors as badly as the G. lol
