R1concepts.. don't waste your money if you're just going for looks lol. R1 has dirt cheap rotors that have exceptional quality to boot. You can either go with the basic inline rotors or you can go for the premium ones which aren't that pricey either.

For pads. I stand by Hawk HPS pads.

Oh, BTW, just make sure you don't completely cheap-out on the rotors.
A friend of mine bought slotted/drilled rotors for his Murano off of eBay, and they warped on him within a few months.

Word to the wise - you may not like the Hawk HPS - they have lousy initial bite.

Brakes

My last set was from r1 rotors(CROSS DRILLED) and they lasted two sets of brake pads.. Quality stuff.

My current set is from rock auto(Plain Rotors), they were inexpensive and have no or little noise/dust. Currently driving 30,000 miles + and still going strong

need advice. i replaced my rears with centric rotors and hawk ceramics, and they squeal since being installed. i've driven probably 7k on them now, and they still squeal. did i not do something right when installing? i had a mechanic put them on and use everything that came in the boxes... bought them from a vendor here. they work fine, just the squealing is a bugger.
thanks

Have you gotten these installed yet? I'm thinking about ordering the exact same thing this weekend.

Confused with so many options....

Hey Guys, I'm planning on getting a front brake upgrade on my 05 G35 Sedan and I was wondering on which rotors/pads I should get. Since I'm a college student, I can't afford the BBK, so I need to find a good alternative and not too expensive. I just want the brakes to last and clear my 18" Stock Sport rims and produce little to no dust. I am currently deciding on a few;

1) Rotors: R1 Concepts Premium Cross Drilled & Slotted
Pads : Hawk HPS
2) Rotors: Z1 Cross drilled and slotted front rotors
Pads: ??
3) Rotors: StopTech Drilled and Slotted Rotors for 06/2002-2005 Nissan 350Z with Standard Brakes (Fronts) - P/N: 127.42074L-R
Pads: ??

What do they mean by "Sport"? Does it mean the manual transmission ones or the Sport Package by infiniti that gives you sport shocks, 18" rims? I have the sport package but does that means I have bigger brakes from the factory? I need to find a good combination of price + effectiveness and reliability. I only need to upgrade the fronts, on the rears I have OEM rotors with Hawk Pads, but that was when I just started College with no money .

Any help will be appreciated.

I like your #1 choice. Cheap and effective and still looks pretty slick. I've got the pads, but I gotta wait a bit until I get the money to the rotors.

Another choice of pads could be Project Mu. Not entirely sure about how much of a performance difference they have between Hawk HPS pads. They're supposed to be better, but no one really knows by how much. Downside is that they cost ALOT more lol..

Hate to break it to ya dude, buuuuut....

Slotted brakes aren't a performance upgrade in your case.
With stoke brakes, a solid rotor will out-perform a slotted or drilled rotor 99% of the time.
Also, slotted/drilled rotors are going to cost more, eat pads faster, and cause more dust, all 3 of which are opposite from what you're trying to accomplish.

So, with that in mind, you do have a few ways up upgrading your brakes while keeping solid rotors.

First is tires. Grippy tires are not only going to stop you better, but also aid in launching and cornering. Good tires are a win-win.

Second is pads. Unfortunately for you, frequently, if a pad performs well, it doesn't last as long and produces more dust.
Case in point: I opted for ceramic Akebonos because I wanted absolutely NO dust. I got no dust, as well as pads that last a very long time, but my brakes do not have anywhere near the initial "bite" that the oem brake pads had... although they are nice and linear now (as apposed to kinda 'grabby' before)

Third, high performance brake lines and fluid. There's plenty of info around on the benefits of these. I recommend you browse around the Brakes & Suspension area, there's a lot of good info to be found.
