question about rear setup on BC coilovers

I recently bought bc racing coilovers for my 05 g35x and got a bit confused about 2 gold aluminum rings that came inside of the rear spring, the instructions make no mention of what they are for. I came to the conclusion that this was to be used as a "spacer" beneath the threads to gain a higher ride height in the rear, as it is a perfect fit.

I just want to confirm that's what it is for, because looking through some threads with people that have bc coilovers, none of them have this gold spacer between the threads and spring so it leaves me a bit confused.

* its definitely not for the bottom of the springbucket, as my spring starts narrow and gets fatter.

any help would be appreciated.

Oem style you seat the spring in the bucket, then put the perch with the rings set to give desired ride height on top.
