open brake fluid shelf life
Hey guys!
I have a container of brake fluid sitting around from my last brake fluid flush that I want to use to bleed the lines.
I have read that brake fluid can be stored after the container is open for the next brake fluid change, but I have ALSO read that you cannot keep brake fluid once the container is open because it gets contaminated and goes bad.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this?
I need some real answers before I use or throw away my brake fluid from about 3 months ago.
Thanks guys!

I contacted ATE about this a few months ago. They said it's one year for an open can and five if unopened. I took it a step further and put the can in a zip loc with one of those moisture absorbing bags that comes with electronics.
Over time, it will start to absorb water from the air. Vie found bottles that have been sitting 6+ months after opening are a darker shade of yellow than fresh fluid.
Brake fluid is cheap..just get new stuff
