Sedan to Coupe springs AGAIN
Sedan to Coupe springs AGAIN
My eyes are bleeding from searching for days...Going to coupe springs but I don't know if I need to order coupe struts/shocks or can i reuse the sedan red shocks/struts. Also, can anyone recommend either the 342 or 427 rear spring rates? I am running 17" wheels and the car is very well planted, but at 100k miles its feels like too much body roll. I want to keep the "planted" feel but not make the back end skittish. Should I just order a complete 2006 coupe sport springs/struts/shocks or can I reuse my red shocks/struts (they are very new)?? I want to do this "right", not just do whatever is "possible". From what I can tell the coupe struts/shocks are cheaper (shorter??)?Example: MSRP sedan rear shock $166, MSRP coupe rear shock $142. I'm thinking that the struts/shocks limit downward travel?? Also, do I need coupe strut bumpers which i suspect are shorter than the sedan ones? Can anyone provide the pros/cons to running the 427 rear spring rate compared to the 342? Do the 05/06 coupe sport rear shocks really have 427 specific valving? Do the 427 rear springs help or hurt the sedan? Are they overkill for the sedan which is lighter than the coupe? As you can tell my brain is fried from trying to figure this out, any help is greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance.

If your red shocks are still relatively new (40K miles or less), they'll easily handle either of the drops.
If you want to reduce body roll, you really should be looking at swaybars.

"I have the 06 coupe sport suspension on my 06 sedan..."Are you running coupe struts/shocks or did you reuse the sedan ones? I get your point about the 350z front springs but aren't they 1" shorter than the sedan? won't the spring be loose on the strut assembly if I reuse the sedan struts?
Buckeye thanks I saw that thread already but it was silent on the struts issue.
DaveB thanks for the advice, will get to swaybars after dealing with the springs..

I have revised 350z spring on my 05X. The car sits with a slight rake to the front which looks great imo. Front rear wheel gaps are equal. The front rides stiffer and not a nice as stock, but the rear rides better than stock. The 427lb bounces less than the 355 of the oem rears. Less compression on hyw heaves. I do have blues in the back to handle the added spring rate. The back actually feels more planted as well.
Im running complete coupe sport suspension (struts/ springs). Z front springs will give you a one inch drop, but it will even out the wheel gap. The Z springs will be nice and tight, you have to remember that you have to compress the spring to put the top pieces on and tighten them down. Since yours are red you will be fine as long as the y are under 40k miles on them. Check the classifieds on here.
EDIT: don't reuse the sedan struts if they are the non sport struts (black). You will end up having to redo it all over again. Non sport sedan struts are not meant to be lowered and will not last long. This info is for those who don't know how to search, just to try and save on repeat questions.
