Warped Rotors on G35S - TSB/Campaign & Warranty Coverage!
Warped Rotors on G35S - TSB/Campaign & Warranty Coverage!
Just FYI. Might be worth to sticky this.
Re. Infiniti G35S front brakes w/ sport package (33,000 miles on mine right now)
The front brakes on my 2008 G35S had progressively gotten worse over the past 10K miles .
Issues were:
- When warm the front suspension would shudder under braking and steering wheel would jiggle. A clear indication of warped rotors.
- also, the brakes would make a low frequency kind of grinding noise when braking while the pads were clearly still in very good shape and not worn at all.
Took the car to the dealer yesterday and there is a campaign/TSB out for this on 2007/2008 G35S with Sport package (larger brakes!).
Following repair was done:
- Replace the brake "baffles" with a newer design to better keep splashing water off the rotors and with cooling fins to cool the rotor better. Infiniti calls those tin shields behind the rotors towards the center of the car "baffles".
- Resurface rotors on lathe ( they seem to have taken about 50 thousands off the rotor)
- Install new brake pads
All in all an approx. $325 to $350 repair only on warranty because of the "baffle" TSB and my brakes are like new again. Otherwise this would not be covered by warranty as I was informed since brakes are wear and tear item.
