front rotors
Re: front rotors
From what I hear, you can't turn them. I overheard the service advisor talking to another G35, using the "it's a performance car" line. He did have some helpful advice, though... if you pay attention to the pads and get them replaced BEFORE they wear down to the wear indicators, they won't mess up your rotors. I'm not sure what thickness that would be on the pads.. I think I read 1/8" somewhere, but I wouldn't bet money on that yet.

Re: front rotors
It's not a question of messed up rotors. The rotors are soft and designed to wear along with the pads. This is what Mercedes and BMW do. The rotors on my G35 have clearly worn but should have enough meat after 10k to be turned at least once. I can't seem to find what minimum thickness should be so I'm hesitant to turn them. I replaced the pads with radex pads and the dusting has gone way down but they still squeal like a greased pig because I didn't turn the rotors.

Re: front rotors
Turning rotors doesn't cure squealing. Squealing can be a bitch to solve. In general they apply silicone type materials to the back of the pad to damp the vibration of the pad.

Re: front rotors
If you remove the disks and run a random orbit sander over the surface as well as use the brake compound on the rear surface, the squeeling can often be eliminated without completely turning the rotors.
