Kinda Stupid Thought

I have been doing some research on getting some new calipers and wanting to spend a ton. I am curious if anyone has used or installed a set of the Nissan Calipers from a 300z? Any input would be appreciated? It looks like it would bolt on, but looks are deceiving.

Do you need new calipers or do you want a different look? You might be able to find some nice used Brembo brakes off an older G. They also make some "Caliper Covers" that say different brands. They are just for looks though. Check out Frankieg35's car. He is rockin' some of those covers on his OEM's.

I thought the newer Non Brembo brakes were rated better than the older Brembo ones...

no, just better for Nissan because of cost. the upgraded 05-06 are better than the tiny 03-04 but aren't better than the Brembos. the Bembo calipers are lighter and the rotors are bigger, not to mention much better pad and rotor upgrade options w/the Brembos.

*don't forget they where still an upgrade option throughout the life of the 350z

I don't think they'll fit? I know they fit the older Nissans as I had a set of 300ZX TT brakes on my '97 Maxima (direct bolt on). But I'm thinking that the G runs a different mounting setup. You could make them fit w/ custom caliper mounts, but at that point, it would be cheaper to just get the Brembo's from a G. Keep in mind they stopped making the 300Z a long time ago, so the parts are going to be old as well as the engineering.

It wouldn't hurt to test fit, you never know. I'm not sure how, but someone figured out that the Maxima and Mustang Cobra had the same spacing on the brakes, so with a simple bracket, we were running 13" Cobra rotors w/ 300Z calipers on Maximas. You won't know until you try.
