Alignment Issues Anyone?
Alignment Issues Anyone?
I am a recently new owner of a Black G35 sedan, premium package, full aero kit, and sport suspension, I absolutely love the car, that is not the problem. The problem is that the damn thing will not drive straight. On the day I bought it, 3 Sunday's ago, the dealer changed out the wheels but did not align the wheels and tires, I drove it off the lot, and then right back on 10 minutes later. Their explanation, its Sunday afternoon and no one here can align it for you, you'll have to bring it back.
Fast forward to three days later, I brought it back, the had it on the racks for 3-4 hours, said it was aligned and I drove it home, half way home I noticed the damn thing still pulled to the right! My wife took it back two days after that, they gave her a loaner car and said it would be fixed in an hour or two. Two hours later and no phone call, I called to find out that the floors in their shop are being resurfaced and they never did ONE DAMN THING to the car.
This past week they brough out a loaner to my house, took the G35 to the shop, had it for two days and said that there was some "radial defect" or something liek that with one of the tires and that they cross-rotated the tires and now it drives perfectly straight. They dropped off the car and all is well right, WRONG! I took the car out later that day and the F@#%ing thing still pulls to the right. Now I'm pissed and Infiniti says they have to fly out one of their engineers to look at it themselves and figure it out.
My question to you all is whether you or anyone you know has had the same trouble aligning the sedan, and if so how did it get fixed? Also, when is it time for me to invoke the "Lemon law" and get a whole new ride. Any info would be appreciated, Thanks.

Re: Alignment Issues Anyone?
New to the forum here. Just bought my G35 sedan 2 weeks ago. WHAT A RUSH! My previous vehicle, a 2002 GMC Envoy with a random stalling problem, was a lemon that GM just repurchased.
Depending on which state you live in, the dealer has 3 or 4 chances to fix the defect, or 20 days out of service in the first 2 years/24k miles. It is very important that your concern is documented and worded the same way on all the repair orders, since that will be your primary evidence. Also make sure the dates and mileage are correct; some dealers play games with those facts.
Check out: http://www.consumerlawcenter.net. This is where I found my attorney.
My attorney wrote one demand letter, then we got a settlement offer from GM within 6 weeks. The whole buyback process took about 4 months. GM paid off my loan, refunded my rebate dollars, and gave me a nice check for my "equity". They also paid my attorney's fees, as per state law if you prevail. A good attorney will not charge you anything, even if you lose, since they will only accept cases they know they can win.
My attorney says he's filed only a few lemon actions against Infiniti, so they have his endorsement.

In California (which I see you're in) there isn't a set number of repair attempts.. less attempts allowed for serious safety issues, and more allowed for minor things. Here's another website to check out: http://www.californialemonlawattorneys.com/

Mine also had a slight pull to the right, it took about 2 months before it went away. Also had the dealer check alignment but they too said it was fine.

Re: Alignment Issues Anyone?
Thanks all for the replies and the info on the lemon law, my car is currently at the dealer AGAIN right now for another attempt at fixing the problem. I will keep you all posted on my success, or not. Thanks again.

Re: Alignment Issues Anyone?
You are not alone! I too have the "pull right" issue. My first visit to the dealer they said it was due to the crown in the road but they adjusted the alignment and said it was fixed. Nope. Second trip to the dealer and they said it was radial pull (due to the tires). They cross roatated the tires (unmounted them and swapped sides). Still not fixed.
I have not pursued this issue further as yet but will be doing so in the near future.
There are quite a few others with this problem both here and at freshalloy.com forums.
Keep us updated on your course (pun intended) of action.

G35Rocker,
It's nice to hear that I'm not alone, not that I am wishing a crooked driving car on you or anyone else, but it's nice to hear that I am not crazy or neurotic. Anyway, the Infiniti of Montclair dealership in CA is where I bought my car and it is where my car is right now. Supposedly they said they have an engineer from Infiniti that flew out just to work on my car and he is working on it this very minute, not sure what he will find or how he plans on fixing it but I will keep you all posted.

Re: Alignment Issues Anyone?
Will you please keep us updated.
I have the same problem.
First Visit: they said it was tire pressure. they "made" adjustments and sent me on my way. The only problem with that is that the tires inflation was exactly the same after my visit. I had checked the inflation the day before and they were exactly at 30 PSI. They were exactly 30 PSI after the visit. Infiniti got charged $45 bucks for nothing. On the way home, I call them back and tell them it's still pulling. They say that it's the crown in the road. I told them that it still pulls to the right when the crown is going the other way.
Between the first and second visit, I changed the wheels and tires to 19"s. Took it back because it still pulled and they said that they can't work on it because it won't fit into their alignment machine.
Fine, I changed the wheels so they have a valid argument (if they would have put it up on the rack the first time instead of "changing" the tire pressure...). So, I took it to Les Schwab for an alignment and it turns out that the front right wheel was toed out 1 degree too much.
Still pulls to the right. There has been some mention on FA that there is a suspension piece/part (compression rod) that may be to blame.
Again, please let us know what the engineer finds out. You are not alone in this and a lot of others would like to get to the bottom of this. I know that the pull will cause premature wear on my S03's. :-(

Re: Alignment Issues Anyone?
I should mention, on my 2 service visits I was given a G35 loaner (non-sport tuned) and neither pulled to the right.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the sport-tuned package? Anyone out there with non-sport tuned that has the pull to the right?

Re: Alignment Issues Anyone?
Thanks for all of the input thus far, you guys and gals on this forum rock! Anyway, I guess tomorrow will be the judgement day. This afternoon the service manager called me and said that the problem is fixed, he said he drove it himself and the thing is as straight as an arrow......so what did he do you're asking? They said the Infiniti engineer looked at the car, drove the car, re-aligned the car, and found nothing wrong with the car. His only suggestion was that given the fact that the car had some sort of "radial problem," he suggested switching out all four tires with new ones, and IT WORKED!
The service manager swears that it drives straight, I'll pick it up tomorrow and see for myself, I will definately let you all know if it's really fixed or not, I want to believe him but I am still skeptical, we'll see.

Re: Alignment Issues Anyone?
G35Rocker,
It's FIXED! I guess it was just the tires. At first when I picked up the car and went for a test drive (with the service manager in the fron seat) the car was about 90% better but it still pulled to the right a little, he suggested we go back to the shop, take off the brand new Goodyear's he had just put on, and try putting on some Bridgestones, same size as the others 215/55/17. The thing now drives perfectly straight. I guess it was a radial problem after all, who knew?
Good luck to the rest of you out there, if I were you and you are still having problems and the dealer says it is aligned correctly, demand that they at least put some new tires on the car so you can try them yourself. If anyone has more questions, feel free to write me back here or Private message me.
