Which Way To GO ?

Ok Guys i need help.

I cant decide what way to go. 2003 G 35 coupe on G H-techs- stock shocks, 20" wheels.

So I need to replace the shocks. I have a issue with scraping when hitting bumps. I already have adjustable front and rear arms to get in spec. So i would like to have damping ability so i can control the stiffness and rebound. Do i go with d-specs or a lower $ coil over set up?
Money is an issue... would like to stay under $900.00. Also if i go with the D specs should i get 350z model since the car is lower than stock?
If a coil over set up recommendations? I don't want a harsh ride but i do canyon carve... any help would be great.

Personally though, I would just save a little more and get a good set.
Getting one good setup that'll last forever>buying multiple sets of cheap *** coils that keep failing.

Up to you.

but in that price range I would only trust the new Basis coils.

If you get to the 1200 mark, things get a lot better.

Any coilovers you get for the $800 won't be an enjoyable ride. Your idea of Tein 350Z H-Techs will give you a OE ride closing the gap over the top of your tires. Combined with Tokico D Spec shocks will give you all the adjustment you need....and a nice ride!

^^He wants adjustable dampening so the Basics aren't a good thing to recommend to him.

Tein Basics are one of the worst coilovers you can get. An better alternative would be a set of BC BR coilovers. If you have time to save a little more, go with FEAL SUSPENSION @1350 Shipped. Custom spring rates and hotbits inserts valved to match, best "Budget" coilover out there.

What is scraping? The suspension ideally should be bottoming out before you scratch your subframe on the ground...

The suspension bump travel is much more determined by your spring rate than your shocks. You probably want to consider stiffer springs, but it will not be fun with the stock shocks. You can also consider replacing your bump stops with really tall and really stiff ones.

$900 isn't much to spend on shocks/springs. If you are getting budget coilovers, since you are having issues with scraping, you should probably get ones with really high spring rates.

Oh yeah, and I am pretty sure a stock coupe handles better than your car now, and will handle better than your car if you go for some budget coilovers.

Got it Figured out

Guys,
Thanks for the input. Update: I found a set of barely use BC/BR Coils for a great deal from a local Nor cal G35 guy. Only 4000 mi on them. Really excited to get them on the car.
So the rubbing is on driver side front and i am almost certain is is because the shocks are worn. I feel confident that it will not happen with the coil over setup.
I appreciate all your input... Drive hard or go home!!!

I realize OP has found his set up but I thought I should clarify something that has been missed.

What I said was the Tein BasiS coilovers.
They are new coils that were released by Tein a while ago as a replacement to their Tein BasiCs.

From what I have heard these are supposed to be a night and day difference from its predecessor.

I haven't looked to far into budget coilovers, and I apologize if I misinform anyone, but for a sub $900 coil you can't go wrong with Tein.

If it means anything, Nitrouz who built the 420tt. (Search it up.) is riding on basics.

But anyways, nice that you found used coils for a good price OP. Hope you enjoy em.

End of rant
